Vibrant and colorful design of the CELEBRATION OF SPORT COLLECTION is inspired by sport’s ability to uplift the world

ASICS launches their new CELEBRATION OF SPORT COLLECTION-– a cross-category footwear and apparel collection that celebrates the power of sport to uplift the world.

Launching alongside a full apparel range, the CELEBRATION OF SPORT COLLECTION sees footwear across ASICS’ Performance Running, Core Performance Sport and Sport Style categories given a striking design revamp. Each piece in the collection features bright, bold confetti-style detailing, taking visual cues from the sense of uplift and celebration that sport will inspire across the world this 2021.

The 46-piece collection encompasses more than five different sports, celebrating the power of all sports to uplift the mind. Runners will be among those invited to experience the uplift, with new iterations of the GEL-KAYANO™ 28, offering excellent stability and cushioning underfoot, and NOVABLAST™ 2, with its advanced energy return technology, among the performance running shoes to feature in the range.

Tennis and volleyball players will also be able to raise their game and feel the uplift on court with new takes on the supportive, lightweight COURT SPEED™ FF and the responsive NETBURNER BALLISTIC™FF 2. Rounding off the collection meanwhile is an array of re-imagined Sport Style silhouettes, including the GEL-QUANTUM 360™ 6 and GEL-QUANTUM 180™, that celebrate the uplifting power of expression.

So no matter how athletes choose to move their mind, the CELEBRATION OF SPORT COLLECTION has the shoes to get everyone feeling the uplifting effect, all the while enhancing their level of performance so they can experience the positive benefits of uplift more often.

The launch of the CELEBRATION OF SPORT COLLECTION sees ASICS continue its mission to inspire as many as possible to move their mind to experience the uplifting power of sport in 2021. For the first time, ASICS is enabling people to see the uplift on their own mind with the new Mind Uplifter™.

From September 21, people will also be able to see how their individual results and different sports contribute to the World Uplift Map – providing a picture of how each individual Mind Uplift contributes to the collective mood of their region, city, and the world as a whole.

The CELEBRATION OF SPORT COLLECTION is available online and instore. Find out more about the CELEBRATION OF SPORT COLLECTION at https://www.asics.com/ph/en-ph and its mission to move one million minds at https://www.asics.com/ph/en-ph/mk/uplifting-minds.

ABOUT ASICS’ MISSION TO MOVE ONE MILLION MINDS

In 2021, ASICS is on a mission to uplift one million minds across the world.  As a pioneer in sport, ASICS is enabling everyday athletes to see for the first time the impact of movement on their own mind – with every mind moved contributing to the world’s first live study into the relationship between sport and the mind.

The revolutionary new Mind Uplifter will enable everyday athletes to chart the positive impact of sport across 10 emotional and cognitive metrics, showing how different sports boost how they think and feel.

This data will also feed into a live global study, capturing individual Mind Uplifts from around the world and visually transforming them into a dynamic and interactive World Uplift Map (available from July 1). The map will quantify the positive impact that sport is having on the collective mood of regions, cities, local communities and the world as a whole.

PanzerGlass™ Bolsters its iPad Screen Protector Range with the Release of GraphicPaper

The new product re-creates the paper feel for more precise digital drawing and writing.

Manila, Philippines; 28 July 2021:  PanzerGlass™, one of the leading screen protection brands in the world, today launches GraphicPaper, a screen protector designed to recreate the texture of paper, making drawing, and writing on the iPad as seamless and precise as possible. The brand’s latest innovation is part of its anti-glare, anti-fingerprint and anti-bacterial iPad range which provide the highest standard of screen protectors, while preserving 100% touch sensibility.

Ideal for creative work, schoolwork, taking notes, sketching, drawing, or playing with the gadget, GraphicPaper has been tested by artists, fashion designers, illustrators of all ages and levels, across the globe.

The new product is now available at select Power Mac Center (PMC) outlets including its online store.  Customers buying any PanzerGlass™ iPad GraphicPaper or Screen Protector instore or online will receive a Free SPRAY Twice a Day Anti-Bacterial Device Cleaner.  Power Mac Center has also partnered with Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, De La Salle College of Saint Benilde, and the University of Santo Tomas giving students 20% off when buying the product.

Commenting on their partnership with the universities, PMC Director of Product Management, Marketing and Space Planning Joey Alvarez shares, “Technology is a fundamental part of education now. Digital devices like the iPad and the tools that students use today empower them to work better and smarter so they can maximize their talents and capabilities as future professionals. With this promotion, we wanted to provide an extra boost to students, especially with products like PanzerGlass™ GraphicPaper that can help improve their digital work.”

The PanzerGlass™ iPad GraphicPaper is a paper-feel screen protector for iPad 10.2/ 11.0 / 12.9 inch and works well with Apple pencil/stylus. Thicker and easier to install, it has an anti-glare functionality to suppress light reflection, making drawing, sketching, and writing easy even under the bright sun. The surface is also scratch-resistant, keeping the screen looking new.

Visual artist Cholo Juan describes GraphicPaper as “like drawing on a natural paper. As a traditional artist, it’s important to feel the texture of the paper. Without the GraphicPaper, my hand tends to smudge the screen, and I get crooked lines. It helps me draw more confidently and precisely.”

The GraphicPaper is thicker by 2mm, which makes the iPad installation easier and retains the highest sensitivity, making drawing and sketching natural.

Parents whose children have a knack for drawing, sketching, or simply doodling will find the GraphicPaper easier to use, inspiring and enhancing their creativity.

“By using GraphicPaper, we were able to bridge both traditional and digital art. The screen protector makes drawing and writing on the iPad feel like it’s on paper. It’s a premium solution for a better drawing experience, giving maximum paper-feel, making the iPad just like a notebook. Artists who like drawing, sketching, or simply doodling will find the GraphicPaper easier to use because it inspires and enhances one’s creativity,” explains Michael Broend – PanzerGlass™ Vice President for Marketing.

PanzerGlass™ GraphicPaper is suitable for iPad models Year 2018-2020. For the installation guide, please visit www.panzerglass.com.

SAFEWash for ALL: P&G Safeguard Donates ₱100 Million To Accelerate Hand Hygiene Support Nationwide

With one of the world’s longest quarantines, Filipinos are already experiencing “protocol fatigue,” which makes them more lenient about hygiene habits and puts them at risk of infection. Procter & Gamble’s Safeguard is stepping in to remind and reinforce the importance of proper handwashing through the SAFEWash movement. With the current increase in cases in the country, the brand is even more committed to becoming a force for good for all Filipinos who are put at risk every day.

SAFEWash Program Extends Help Nationwide

To help protect Filipinos from the threats of germs and illnesses, P&G and Safeguard ramp up its SAFEWash movement by donating a total of over Php 100 million worth of support. Launched last year, the SAFEWash movement enables organizations and individuals to work together to promote proper handwashing. On top of this, Safeguard is helping to rebuild handwashing facilities and provide hygiene kits for the Philippine General Hospital, currently housing the highest number of COVID-19 patients nationwide. Last May 2021, the hospital’s facilities were damaged by a fire that led to the swift evacuation of patients, including those being treated for COVID-19. Through its partnership with the Manila Water Foundation, Safeguard is adding three multi-faucet handwashing facilities for the hospital in key high-traffic areas to decrease the level of hospital contamination of germs and illnesses.

One Step Ahead in Safeguarding the Nation

With the acceleration of efforts in the past month, P&G and Safeguard have supported more than 20+ organizations, hospitals, and LGUs with the construction of public handwashing facilities, and distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE), face masks, ventilators, and hygiene care packs to vaccine hubs and frontliners, through the SAFEWash movement.

As the trusted antibacterial soap brand for more than 55 years, Safeguard commits its support to the Department of Health in helping prepare the country for a hopeful reopening. Through the DOH and P&G partnership, 70,000 BIDA Solusyon health and hygiene kits were distributed to families in 36 provinces nationwide. The kits helped local government units manage COVID-19 community outbreaks, strengthened proper hand hygiene education, and influenced positive action on health and hygiene of families.

“Safeguard believes in helping protect every Filipino family through quality products that fight the spread of germs and illnesses. If everyone plays their part by practicing minimum health protocols, frequent handwashing being one of them, we can help protect those around us as well. At Safeguard, we are one with our partners in helping the country reopen to a SAFER normal,” shares Jan Ang, Senior Brand Director for Safeguard Philippines

Safeguard is working as a Force For Good in ensuring Filipinos get access to quality health and hygiene via the SAFEWash Movement. You can also view Safeguard’s range of germ-fighting products from bars, liquid soaps, to body wash, in Lazada, Shopee, or Facebook, to protect your loved ones of up to 99.9% germ protection today.

Save the Children Philippines raises concern on increasing number of children with COVID-19; calls for immediate action and protection by government and general public

Save the Children Philippines is alarmed by the increasing number of reported cases of children and adolescents already infected with COVID-19 amid woes of Delta variant spread, and calls on the government, parents, caregivers, and other stakeholders to work hand-in-hand with urgency to protect children and youth from the virus.
Data presented by health authorities showed that over 48,000 children ages 19 and below have acquired COVID-19 as of February 2021 where 40.2% are from the 15-20 years old age group, 17.4% are ages 5-9, and 18.5% are ages 4 and below. Globally, children account for up to 15% of confirmed cases. While children may not belong to the “high-risk groups” and most Filipino children infected with COVID-19 remain to be mild as studies show, there is a growing concern that the highly contagious Delta variant is more fatal to children, especially to those with co-morbidities or who are less than one year old since their immune response is either compromised or not yet developed. “The symptoms of children should not be disregarded,” said Dr. Cecilia Francisco, Director for Thematic Programs of Save the Children Philippines. “Children with COVID-19 generally have milder effects and better prognosis than adults but those who have underlying diseases have higher risks to experience severe illnesses,” added Francisco. Since inoculation of children against COVID-19 is not yet a priority and the country is still on its way to achieving herd immunity with around 26.6 million Filipinos vaccinated as of recent, Save the Children believes that the greatest protection that can be given to children is for adults to get vaccinated. The sooner this is done, the greater chances for children and adolescents to rise in the priority list. The child rights organization believes that while adults are prioritized for vaccination, children must also continue to receive other life-saving immunizations and health nutrition services necessary for their survival. “We call on the government to ensure that all children will have safe and inclusive access to basic childhood vaccines and receive routine immunization for vaccine-preventable diseases, even at the time of pandemic,” said Atty. Alberto Muyot, Chief Executive Officer of Save the Children Philippines. “We also emphasize our call to parents, guardians, caregivers, and communities for them to act more responsibly around children by strictly adhering to the minimum health and safety protocols to protect themselves and their children from the imminent threats of the Delta variant,” said Muyot. Save the Children Philippines has been supporting the Department of Health’s National Immunization Program through its health and nutrition programs which include nutrition-specific interventions and nutrition-sensitive programs, and has been working closely with Rural Health Units (RHU) to promote and ensure full immunization of children at age 12 months. This is also part of the Nurturing Care Framework included in the First 1000 Days ordinances based on Republic Act 11148 (Kalusugan at Nutrisyon ng Mag-Nanay Act) advocated by Save the Children Philippines to local government units.

Genius Teens: The Wild Raven

Publisher’s Note!

People may wonder why Synopsis Magazine features new actors in an online cover of Genius Teens.  Well it’s about time our industry introduces new faces, new talents in this rapidly changing 21st Century.  As doors open for the newcomers, the “umay” factor in established television and movies will vanish.

Utmost Creatives is very proud to introduce to you new discovered actors in the industry, but from the “indie world” who were once bit players.   We now aspire for equal billing with the mainstream actors and indies.

In the Superhero Edition of Synopsis Magazine we are featuring Kimchloie Oquendo, an excellent actor  portraying the role of Needle. Utmost Creatives Executives personally chose Kim to do the role of Agatha/Needle and trusted her for the biggest villain role in the Genius Teens Series. And in the opening of Season One of GT you will understand why she is capable to excel at the task and to impress the viewers with her natural acting skills in a villain role.

We interview her about some personal and role playing questionnaire and we also present what the viewers will expect from her character, as well as its origins.

Series Questions:

Q: Tell us about your superpower in Genius Teens.  Can you relate to it personally?

A: Needle has venomous needle-like long nails. I love the fact that she can cut your head off or she can kill you just by a small cut. Personally, i like having long nails because it makes me feel powerful for some reason. Also, i enjoyed Needle’s power so much.

Q: Did you tell your friends about Genius Teens, and what was their response?

A: I did and they’re all looking forward to watch ‘Genius Teens’.

Q: Auditions were extremely competitive with over 100 teens trying out.  When you won your part, what was your first reaction, and how did you feel?

A. I was shocked. I saw a lot of teens when i auditioned and we were to get a role. I know that they did their best, we all did. The chance of being a part of Genius Teen’s was kind of low , so yes, I was really shocked and ecstatic at the same time.

Q:As one of the main characters, how was your preparation time?

A: First thing i did was to give Needle a character. I had to be consistent on that part so i would be always be prepared to be her whenever I step in front of the camera like when I read my script I could think of how she will deliver those lines. Also, I began to love my character more when I gave her mannerisms. It made me so happy bringing her to life.

Q: Can you compare Genius Teens with Marvel or DC characters?

A: To be honest, yes. It was my dream to have this kind of a Marvel inspired movies after all. When you watch it you will find the difference, because here we are using the total capacity of our brains to have power.

Q: In the Series, you are first known as Agatha.   How was the adjustment?

A: I was first known as Agatha, the grumpy student who thinks she’s the greatest person on Earth. Sometimes she can also be very two-faced girl. If we’re talking about mu adjustment, I didn’t had a hard time with it. I asked the lovely  writer of the series about Agatha Cenizal, I asked everything about her and it helped me a lot when it comes to building Agatha’s character.

Q: Are you involved in a fight scene?  Did you like that?

A: Yes, I was involved in a fight scene. These scenes were very challenging for me but with the help of my co-actor and directors, I went smoothly and fun.

Q: What was your main consideration in accepting this role?

A: They offered me an interesting role then I thought, “I can bring justice to this character”.

Q: Do you think this Genius Teens will help your career?

A: Yes, it will.

Q: Which other Genius Teen superhero do you admire?

A: Speed. In all honesty, I want to have his power. I would like to be a speedster. If we’ll think about it, speedsters can phase through anything, speed healing, high metabolism, fast as a light, etc. But if it’s about personality and back-story, my answer would be Laser.

Q: What can we expect from you in Genius Teens?

A: Expect me giving other characters anger management issue.

Q: How will you help to promote GT?

A: I will promote it on social media and to my friends.

He was dubbed as the Asia’s Multimedia Star after winning the 2019 Seoul International Drama Award, Asian Star Prize award equivalent to best acting award, held in South Korea. He was once a super hero in a hit teleserye, Victor Magtanggol on GMA7 and his other notable works include Tween Hearts, One True Love, Carmela, The Road, Imagine You and Me, Hello, Love Goodbye and The Gift and also known for his role as Lakan in the reboot series of Encantadia. As a recording artist, Richards release albums, under Universal Records and GMA Music. His Self-Titled Album reached Platinum status while “Wish I May” reached Diamond status. And 3rd Album “Say It Again” that doing well in record and iTunes sales. But from all of this achievements his so-called “phenomenal television and social media success in the Philippines” was with Eat Bulaga, when he was paired to Maine Mendoza in a Kalyeserye – AlDub.

We conduct an interview for Alden during our photoshoot at Parallax Studio in Makati with the studio owner and Photographer, Wesley Villarica; HMUA and Stylist courtesy of GMA Artist.

– Who is Alden when off-cam?
That’s really hard to answer, but really the people that’s behind me sila yung makakapagsabi nun. Pero basically who am I on-cam is basically who am I off-cam, there’s no difference naman pero sobrang hilig ko lang maglaro ng online games, that’s one and sobrang makulit. Well im just your typical guy.

– Can you describe your younger self?
Careless, happy go lucky and siguro hindi driven, without a purpose.

– What is something you have always wanted but have not done yet?
Well siguro yung being independent because my current occupation really needs a lot of manpower behind my back. So I’m really looking forward to manage my life independently soon.

– Food that you absolutely hate?
Menudo.

– Guilty Pleasures?
Playing online games and spending quite a handful of money on it.

– When you were younger, have you ever thought of being an actor?
No, I was brought up from a family of business oriented people pero employees, we don’t really own businesses before. The way I envision myself, I really want to be like my dad before na Marketing Manager of a hotel in Laguna then eventually it turned out that I wanted to be a pilot pala but we don’t have the resources to comply with that dream.

– Before you became an actor, you joined pageants. When did this all start?
It all started when I was in my 2nd year in Paco Catholic School when my adviser encouraged me that I can join pageants because I really had no self-esteem, I was insecure and I’ve always taught of that there a lot more people better than me. So hindi ko talaga siya kinonsider pero that push changed my life.

– For those times you’ve auditioned and were rejected, did you ever consider quitting?
Yes ofcourse. Mas marami talaga yung rejections and there will be a point in your lifetime na parang you’ll feel stupid already because I’ve been trying a lot of times yet I’m failing. But ako kasi when I considered failing or when I consider to let go of the actor mindset or the actor’s dream, hinila ako pabalik. So that’s it, if it’s for you it’s really for you, no matter how hard the circumstance is, no matter how hard yung pagdaanan mo to get there.

– Who pursued you in joining showbiz?
It’s my mom talaga, she wanted this for me and after she passed on I just pushed myself that I’m gonna do this for my mom, I’m gonna do this for her legacy, parang in a way hindi naman nasayang yung buhay niya sa mundong ito.

– What’s the challenging part of being an artist?
Well in all aspects of life parang everything should always be improved. So as an artist you have to be always open for improvement, hindi mo pwedeng sabihin na magaling na ko sa ganito, Im already good, I don’t wanna work on it kasi this is already acceptable.

– Can you share us your memorable experience on being part of the Dabarkads?
So the first time I joined Eat Bulaga was way back 2015, since then my life really drastically changed. Being part of a family that’s been there for the longest time, that’s the longest running noontime show and going to the show everyday, I mean yung opportunity to be part of the hosts and sila Tito, Vic and Joey tandem is really an opportunity of a lifetime na no one can forget. I mean once a darbarkads, always a dabarkads.

– It’s your first time working with Star Cinema. How was it working with Kathryn Bernadro and Direk          Cathy Garcia Molina?
It’s also one for the books. I will never forget this experience, it taught me a lot in terms of being an actor and a person, and doing more for the craft than what I already know, there’s more to it and these people helped me especially Direk Cathy pushed me certain limits that I’ve never been before, made me feel things I never felt before so I’m really thankful to her and I just really hope that this will not be the last movie we’re gonna be working together.

– Other than singing and acting, you’re also an ententrepreneur. Tell us more about your restaurant, Concha’s Garden café.
Concha’s is ofcourse my first business venture and I’m really happy with how our restaurant is performing right now, we already have 5 branches in a span of 3 years and I’m really blessed and talagang sobrang ganda ng opportunity na binigay sakin dito because I really have a great partner and we really have a lot of plans like to be known all over the Philippines and all over the world. Because we really have great food and the costumers can attest to that.

– How do you manage your time being an actor and at the same time handling your businesses?
It’s really difficult because in real life you really have to choose one, it’s either you be an actor full time or you’ll be a businessman. So the key to do doing both is creating a core group, your core people. Meaning, the one’s that you really trust, the one’s that will really help you and hindi mo siya magagawa overnight. It’s really a matter of fears before you’re able to construct a core group for yourself. Well that includes family and of course the closest people to you, your friends you have to really build it so that you’ll be able to handle both and you can be a businessman and an actor at the same time. So that’s the secret for me

–  For all of your success, what more do you want to achieve?
There’s always more in life. Success is not really determined by the material things, yung mga physicality’s of this world I don’t really determing success as that. There are so many types of successes but really it’s more of improving yourself. Doing more, exploring new things, teaching you thing, inspiring people and reaching out as far as you can. I mean make that dream your fuel to go on life and to really achieve more of what you like to do and what you really like to do, but first it must be clear what do you really want in this lifetime.

– What’s your mantra in life?
Be good and  be nice to everyone, that’s the thing my grandma and my parents told me. Kasi talent, it doesen’t matter how good you are, it doesen’t matter how smart you are or how good looking, how pretty, how sexy you are but it’s really about being good, the goodness in you that will make you remembered by people hindi yung kung ano yung nagawa mo it’s really the attitude kasi all of those things they will perish at one point but the goodness will remain and that’s gonna be an eternal imprint to the people that crossed your life in your existence.

– Do you have message to your fans or supporters and readers of magazine?
Well I’m really just thankful to them and I always say this and paulit ulit ko talagang sasabihin na if not for the fans there will be no artist, there will be no actors or celebrities, wala kami. So it’s all thanks to them, to their support. Kung meron man mas mahirap na trabaho dito sila yun they line up with the shows as early as possible and they support all of your endeavors from the smallest magazine launch to your albums, to your concerts. I mean basically parang half of my career I really owe it to the fans kasi sila yung nagdala sakin dito and I’d like to say that out loud kasi sila talaga yung naging susi to reach my dreams and as much as I inspire them, they inspire me to even pursure further para sakanila so I’m just so thankful.

Truly- Nothing Beats The Best!

In spite of his very busy schedule and being one of the most popular and bankable actor in the Philippines. Alden is also a Philanthropy, in 2014 he became an Ambassador for Habitat for Humanity. He celebrated his birthday last January 2015 by building homes alongside other volunteers and families involved with a non-profit organization in Payatas, Quezon City and other good samaritan deeds. He was chosen as an Ambassador of Bida Solusyon, an informative campaign formed by the Department of Health about the health protocols in preventing the spread of COVID-19. He is also the ambassador for the Philippines of End Tuberculosis, a campaign formed by the USAID. So it’s really nothing can beat the best like Alden Richards, his hardship before what he is right now is a very inspiring and something to look up with.
